In the last couple years, the UK and the world has faced a health crisis. With the advent and global spread of the Covid 19 virus, many healthcare facilities faced enormous pressure in providing adequate attention and care for patients.
Recently a new health secretary has been appointed, Theresa Coffee. She faces an enormous challenge and task than her predecessor faced in helping the NHS manage the overflowing cases.
England’s 5th health and social care secretary in 5 years has a mammoth challenge in managing the NHS’s workflow. With 6.84m people in waiting list for hospitals, an unprecedented shortage of staff and winter looming with the possibility of a covid wave and flu, there is immense pressure.
We also have a responsibility towards our NHS and accountability towards our own health. Today we will discuss some simple everyday tips we can measure to ensure good overall health and perhaps reduce or avoid any trips to the doctors.
- Limit Sugary Drinks
Sugary drinks do not necessarily have many benefits and the problems through regular consumption can be very detrimental. Sweetened beverages are causes for heart disease, type 2 diabetes, and obesity in children.
Best alternatives to these drinks are water, sparkling water, and unsweetened tees. It helps hydrate the body and also ensures no adverse effects through consumption.
- Nuts and Seeds
People sometimes avoid nuts as they are high in fat but overlook the nutritious benefits. Seeds and nuts are rich in vitamins, fibre, protein, and a variety of minerals. Also, they can help reduce the risk of type 2 diabetes and heart diseases.
- Fish
For seafood lovers and non-vegetarians, fish is a fantastic source of protein and vitamins. It is good practice to have 2 potions of fish (including oily fist) per week. Some oily fish include Salmon, trout, and sardines.
